Members and friends, welcome to our website! We are a vibrant, friendly and varied group of almost 200 quilters and quilt artists who have been sharing quilts, talent and camaraderie since 1981. There are monthly meetings, most of them with special speakers, quilt related activities, and show and tell. We have quilt shows every other year, and lots of quilt-ins, challenges, round robins, and community service projects, along with an impressive library for our members - something for everyone! As you navigate this website, you will see some of our work, check out our schedule, and share our accomplishments. If you are interested in quilting, please join us the first Thursday of the month for our Guild Meeting. We love to meet visitors and will make you feel at home!

December Meeting: Christmas Potluck!

Our December meeting will be our annual Christmas potluck dinner, on Thursday, December 6 at the Masonic Family Center.  Doors open at 5:30, and the meeting starts at 6pm.   It's going to be a great meeting!

If you have gift cards, finished totes, or items to put into the totes, drop them at Honey Run by 5pm, Thursday, December 4.  Don't start any new totes; Sonoma donated some too.

We are happy to welcome all members of the Ridge Quilters' Guild, who are now honorary members of ASQG too.   The visiting guild will be from Santa Rosa.

The 2018 Challenge quilts will be on display and ready for voting!  There will also be a Christmas-themed quilt block exchange.

We'll have a great potluck dinner; please remember to bring more food than usual for our Ridge Quilters' guests.  We'll also be talking about how best to assist those displaced by the Camp Fire.

Looking forward to seeing you there--

The next Comfort Quilt sewing days at Honey Run will be:
Tuesday, Dec. 4: 9:30 - 5:00
Thursday, Dec. 20: 10:00 - 4:00
Saturday, Dec. 22: 10:00 - 4:00

Opportunities to Help

A news update from our community service committee:

In the wake of the horrific destruction in all the communities involved in the Camp fire we once again are organizing the Comfort Quilt Project to support guild members and others affected by this disaster. There are two sessions scheduled:

Tuesday, November 27 – Friday, November 30, 9am to 5pm at Ord Bend Community Center.  Yes, that's four days of sewing!  The last day will be a potluck.

Tuesday, December 4, 9am – 6pm at Honey Run Quilters.

There will be quilt kits and extra fabric available. We want to know how many will be able to attend in order to have sufficient supplies available, so please contact Millie Lofgren or Sally Senestraro by email or phone.

Bring sewing machines and supplies, cushions for chairs, and your lunch.

Honey Run has also offered their classroom for a Community Sew Day: November 15 - 17 from 9:30am to 5:30pm to make pillowcases and quilts.

ASQG has invited the members of the Ridge Quilters Guild to our December potluck meeting, and made them all members of ASQG.  We hope the Ridge Quilters will be able to join us for a delicious and friendly dinner, and we're more than pleased to welcome them to our guild as we work together on recovery efforts.

November Meeting: J. J. Johnson

Our November meeting will be on the 1st at the Masonic Family Center, at 7pm.  Doors open at 6:30.

J. J. Johnson, also known as Judi, will be our speaker in November.  She'll have a trunk show to show off a large collection of her work.  Come and take a look at the work of a well-known North Valley quilter!

Remember that if you're participating in this year's challenge, quilts are due at this meeting.  Quilts are to measure 24" x 24" and have a label on the back with your name and phone number.  Submit in an opaque pillowcase or bag, and include an index card with a few short sentences about your quilt.

October meeting: Diane Steele

Our October meeting will be held at 7pm on Thursday, October 4th at the Family Masonic Center.  Doors open at 6:30.  For the first time, there will be an orientation meeting for new guild members beforehand, at 6:00, with guild president Judy Riley and VP Chris Guillick.  These orientations will occur quarterly from now on.

Our featured speaker is Diane Steele.  See what she's like at her website -- I particularly liked the "Charming Silhouettes" patterns, but there's lots of great stuff there!  Diane will be teaching her workshop, "What's in the Box?" on Friday at Honey Run Quilts.  The cost is $35.

The Oroville Piecemakers will be our guests with their opportunity quilt!

Tara Faughnan: Playing With Solids

The September meeting featured Tara Faughnan with a trunk show of her progression as a quilt artist.  She has chosen to mostly focus on solids and showed off some great quilts!

Guild meeting: Thursday, August 2nd, 6:30 pm at the Masonic Family Center.

This month's guest will be JJ Jensen, who is bringing a trunk show of her work, called "How do You Mend a Broken Heart?"  She has extensive experience in the quilting world and has owned quilt shops.

We will also be conducting a lot of guild business, as it is the end of our year.  There will be officer elections and new spots for committee members.

JJ will also be teaching a workshop on Friday (which is full!  Waiting list only!) where we will learn to use our sewing machines' fancy stitches.  It looks to be a lot of fun!

June Meeting: Community Service Night!

Our June meeting will be on Thursday, June 7 at 6pm!  We're starting early because it's the annual Community Service Sewing Night and we'll want plenty of time for producing quilts and everything else.  There will be projects for you to work on, or the small groups have planned projects, or you can bring your own.  The VPs will be there to help you find a place.

Here's one part of what your service sewing does: our Community Service team just presented over 30 quilts to Butte County Independent Living to help graduating foster kids get established.

Barbara Eikmeier: Sashing Solutions

We had a great meeting with Barbara Eikmeier, who gave her program "It's All in the Sashing" -- in which she starts off with simple types of sashing and works her way through to a wide variety of sashing solutions.  If you are looking to lighten up a set of blocks that feel heavy, make a random set of blocks live together in harmony, or produce interesting secondary patterns, there is a sashing method to suit!  Eikmeier teaches these skills in a Craftsy class, and she is also planning a book.

Barbara also turned out to be a local!  Although she is now based in Kansas City, she grew up in Willows and actually co-owns the Quilt Corral.  Check out her designs at her website, Barb's Favorites.

February Meeting: Barbara Eikmeier

Our speaker, Barbara Eikmeier, has been teaching since 1990, so she has seen it all!  She designs fabric for Paintbrush Studio Fabrics and patterns for her own business (check it out at Barb's Favorites), as well as teaching classes and giving workshops.  You can see her at Craftsy too.

Barbara has a wide variety of quilt designs and a special love for applique.  She will be teaching a workshop, "It's All in the Sashing," on Saturday.

Our February meeting will be on the 1st at 7:00 pm at the Masonic Family Center.

Erica Plank: Unseen Hands

Our January meeting featured designer Erica Plank, owner of Unseen Hands Designs. Wow, this is one prolific and energetic woman!  As she showed off quilt after quilt, often featuring embroidery, applique, or chenille, she told us about her career on the road and her recent move back to her Kansas hometown.  Her Cathedral Window pillow workshop the next day was booked solid, and I heard it was a success.  Check out Erica's website to see an amazing variety of designs, all with a large dollop of country charm.

Our first meeting of 2018 will be on Thursday, January 4, at 6:30 pm at the Chico Masonic Family Center.  Erica Plank, owner of Unseen Hands, is a quilt and embroidery designer.  Check out her website, where you will see a wide variety of designs, including pieced, applique, and chenille quilts.
